If you have experience in palliative care or a passion to help others, we would love to hear from you. Especially looking for male volunteers to support male clients.

Our volunteers support clients with a life-limiting illness in their homes. Volunteers may offer companionship and practical support. They can provide social support to those living on their own; respite to a client’s carer (i.e. a couple of hours break to a carer each week); or help with shopping. Volunteers need be able to work on their own in the community but are part of a larger team of dedicated volunteers and staff.

The volunteer role requires a minimum commitment of 2 hours per week with some flexibility on days & time of availability. Most requests for volunteer support are Monday to Friday.

Silver Chain values its team of dedicated volunteers. As such we provide extensive training to ensure our volunteers feel confident and able to support clients and their families.

This role is not suited to short-term, work experience or student placement.
