Bairnsdale Regional Health Service

Bairnsdale Regional Health Service provides multi-disciplinary health service to a growing population of over 42,000 across East Gippsland. With the increase in population growth of the region over the last five years, BRHS has dramatically increased its capacity to service the needs of the community. BRHS incorporates a long-established hospital with 51 acute beds, 17 sub-acute beds, a modern theatre suite, emergency department, short stay unit and maternity services. Day services include a 9 bed Day Procedure Unit, a newly built 10 chair Oncology/Medical Ambulatory Day Unit and a 9 chair Dialysis Unit. In addition to acute care, BRHS also provides care services in a 90 bed Aged Care facility, Rehabilitation, Outpatient Services, Home Based Services and Community Health. A wide range of visiting surgeons consult and operate at the hospital with extensive radiology, pathology and pharmacy services also provided not only to the residents of Bairnsdale district but to other regional hospitals and health care agencies. A diverse range of home-based services, community health programs and the public dental services are provided through the Community Health Centre. Planned Activity Groups are managed and co-ordinated at Bairnsdale, Buchan, Lindenow, and Paynesville under the auspice of BRHS. We are quality-accredited, with ACHS Accreditation status and Aged Care Accreditation. Through this process our hospital and staff achieved endorsement for the high quality of care provided to our patients. As the major employer in East Gippsland, we employ in excess of 900 staff, in both fulltime, part time and casual positions. We are committed to ongoing improvements and continued education opportunities for our staff and volunteers, so they are equipped to meet the changes in the health needs of the region.
