Helping Hand has partnered with the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) to connect older people in our residential care communities with a dedicated volunteer. We want to bring friendship and joy to older people who may be socially isolated, or who might be finding it hard to connect with others due to cultural, physical or other barriers.
Having good social connections is essential for all aspects of health, especially as we age. The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) and Volunteer Visitors program supports older Australian’s who live in an aged care facility or their own home and who are lonely or socially isolated.
Do you enjoy meeting new people? Would you like to help people in need? Do you have good attention to detail? Are you confident working with numbers? Various locations available: Gawler, Marion (initial face to face training provided in Port Adelaide first) or regional locations including Port Lincoln, Whyalla and Port Augusta Time commitment - 5 hours or more per week (anytime during business hours Monday to Friday) for 6 months or longer

Our Port Lincoln branch is currently recruiting volunteers to assist in the office for 1- 2 hours weekly. Fridays - approx. 1pm - 2pm. Administration tasks will include tallying meal totals, updating route sheets, stamping meal lids and general Admin duties. On a monthly, half-yearly and annual basis, there will be a small number of extra duties including reports to Central Office Finance team.
Every week, all sorts of people do all sorts of things for Meals on Wheels. If you’ve got a bit of time on your hands, we could do with you. If you have an quick mind and a love of taking notes, you can help your local community by keeping the wheels turning at a Meals on Wheels branch as the Assistant Secretary. An Assistant Secretary helps the Secretary where needed and steps in when the they are ill, unavailable or on holidays.
Volunteers at Women's Information Service (WIS) are highly valued and make a difference to the lives of many women in South Australia. This volunteer role involves providing information and referrals to women who visit the purposely established safety hub 'The Haven'. We provide a comprehensive training program, mentored shifts and ongoing support. WIS is a supportive team to all of our valuable volunteers.
