About SMCT: The Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (SMCT) administers nine cemetery locations within metropolitan Melbourne and supports over half of Victoria's grieving families during their time of loss. Our commitment to understanding the needs of our diverse community is embodied by our Community Advisory Committee (CAC).

Role Overview: Expressions of interest are now open for voluntary membership on our Community Advisory Committee (CAC). This committee plays a vital role in providing insights into, and building networks with, the diverse communities we serve.

We Are Looking For Individuals Who:

• Have strong connections to community organizations

• Possess diverse identities, experiences, perspectives, and skills

• Show interest in SMCT's offerings

• Can fulfill the requirements of the committee, which includes research and community engagement

Why Join? This is a fantastic opportunity to increase your involvement and experience with boards and governance, particularly for those in their early to mid-careers who are interested in leadership. As a CAC member, you will engage with individuals from various religious and social backgrounds and help guide an important service for the broader Victorian community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide a mechanism for consumer and community engagement regarding SMCT's current or proposed products or services

• Offer advice from consumer and community perspectives on SMCT's current or proposed products or services, including major initiatives and changes

• Advise SMCT on community issues related to its communication with the communities it serves

Eligibility Criteria:

• Active in the community with established formal or informal community or consumer networks

• Able to contribute consumer and community views from a broad and inclusive perspective

• Capacity to reflect the views of our community

• Links to community and/or consumer groups

• Ability to bring knowledge of the opinions and policies of community groups to the committee
