Inner West Neighbour Aid is a not for profit community organisation, established for over 30 years that provides social outings, workshops, exercise classes, centre based groups and programs around the home for seniors living in the inner west. Neighbour Aid also maintains the 5 Senses Garden in Rhodes Park, Concord West in partnership with the City of Canada Bay Council. The organisation is primarily funded under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme and other grants. Inner West Neighbour Aid is a leader in intergenerational programs, partnering regularly with a local pre-school and primary school, 2 inner west high schools and Macquarie University.

We’re after an extra special volunteer for our Trolley Talk program, an intergenerational program with Ashfield Boys High School, where seniors and students meet at Ashfield Mall for an hour to shop, walk and talk.

When: It runs on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month during school term from 8am – 12pm.

The Role: Our special volunteer is an “extra” helping hand as they will be additional to the student volunteers and their role is to:

  • Support our staff member with door to door transport of our senior clients
  • Support and guide our seniors as they walk through the shopping centre
  • Assist seniors with their shopping bags
  • Walk and talk with our seniors
  • Be a role model for our student volunteers

Together, we're making sure our community of seniors have a stress-free and enjoyable morning at the supermarket. An opportunity for both generations to make a difference in each other’s lives.
