Tasks:

• Travel on the community shopping bus from North Adelaide to the Central Market, and return.
• Ensure all passengers are aware of departure times from the Market
• Collect a gold coin donation from each attendee and place in the cashbox provided. Deliver to the Volunteer Supervisor at the end of the run upon return to Pirie Street and tally up amount on sheet provided
• Record client attendance on passenger list provided
• Report to the Coordinator any concerns that need to be followed up regarding client’s wellbeing
• Report immediately any incidents during the journey

Essential

• Excellent customer service and able to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds
• Able to work as a team member and individually as required
• Ability to give clear and accurate directions
• Ability to use stairs to access the shopping bus

Training & Induction

All volunteers must participate in the City of Adelaide’s:

• Volunteer organisational induction
• Site specific induction (inclusive of manual handling training and operating procedures where necessary)
• Completion of the online Workplace Health and Safety module relevant to the role

Time Commitment

Volunteers are required on a fortnightly basis. This is a long term volunteer role requiring a minimum 6 month commitment.

Additional Requirements

• All council volunteers are required to have a satisfactory current National Criminal History Clearance and Working with Children Check. This will be provided and updated every 5 years by CoA
• Comply with all Council policies and procedures outlined in the Volunteer Handbook
• Adhere to all Work Health and Safety instructions and advice provided
• Where required, uniforms and personal protective equipment will be provided by CoA to be worn whilst on duty
• Must have a charged phone with credit for emergency situations to contact City of Adelaide staff / emergency services. (Costs will be reimbursed)
