Responsibilities of Risk and Governance Committee.

The Risk and Governance Committee’s role is to assist the Board in fulfilling their oversight role and responsibility to:

  • Develop and recommend the risk appetite statement
  • Develop, oversee and review the risk management framework and related policies
  • Monitor and ensure that Scouts SA is operating within the risk appetite set by the Board
  • Monitor and review policies and the policy framework to ensure legal compliance and best practice
  • Monitor and inform the Board’s governance obligations, regulatory compliance and best practice.

Responsibilities of Finance and Audit Committee.

The Finance and Audit Committee’s role is to assist the Board in effectively fulfilling their oversight role and responsibilities to:

  • Review the financial results and provide input into medium to long term financial strategies to improve the results
  • Review long term financial forecasting, including cashflow and funding requirements • Review and endorse the Annual Budget
  • Review and endorse the Audited Financial Report
  • Review the annual Insurance proposal and changes in insurance coverage.
  • Review proposals for large acquisitions
  • Review the appointment of the external Auditors
  • Monitor implementation of recommendations from the external Auditor
  • Review the internal audit function when undertaken
  • Monitor implementation of internal audit recommendations.

As a Committee Member, you will be expected to hold a current valid, not prohibited, Working with Children Check provided by the Department of Human Services Screening Unit and to complete mandatory child protection training. Scouts SA can facilitate this process for successful applicants.
