The Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is owned and operated by Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital.

Our aim is to bring awareness to the importance of respecting our natural world alongside the community, by creating experiences that enable visitors to leave feeling fulfilled and having a newfound enjoyment of what Australia’s natural flora and fauna have to offer.

“Our vision is to develop the Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary into a world class bio park with a focus on Australian Wildlife through conservation, education, indigenous engagement and ecotourism initiatives”.

We are excited to establish a volunteer program at the Sanctuary.

The Visitor Engagement Volunteer will assist in the operation of the wildlife sanctuary services, ensuring a welcoming and positive experience for all visitors. This role is essential for creating a friendly atmosphere and supporting the sanctuary’s mission by enhancing visitor satisfaction and engagement.

Responsibilities will include:

• Greeting visitors warmly and provide excellent customer service.

• Assisting with visitor inquiries, providing information about the sanctuary, its mission, activities, and facilities.

• Conducting guided tours and educational talks, if required.

• Supporting staff with talks and displays.

• -Ensuring all areas of the sanctuary are clean and tidy. **Selection Criteria: **

• over 18 years • Offer a minimum 6-month commitment to the program • Be willing to work outdoors in all-weather / seasons • Able to perform moderate physical activities • Be comfortable being around animals. • Be willing to wear the volunteer uniform
