The Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is owned and operated by Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital.

Our aim is to bring awareness to the importance of respecting our natural world alongside the community, by creating experiences that enable visitors to leave feeling fulfilled and having a newfound enjoyment of what Australia’s natural flora and fauna have to offer.

“Our vision is to develop the Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary into a world class bio park with a focus on Australian Wildlife through conservation, education, indigenous engagement and ecotourism initiatives”.

We are excited to establish a volunteer program at the Sanctuary.

The hospitality support volunteer will be responsible for:

  • Greeting visitors warmly and provide excellent customer service.

  • Assisting in the preparation and serving of food and beverages.

  • Operating the cash register, handle cash, and process credit/debit card transactions accurately.

  • Ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained in the food service area.

  • Restocking food and beverage items as needed.

Selection Criteria:

• over 18 years • Offer a minimum 6-month commitment to the program • Be willing to work outdoors in all-weather / seasons • Able to perform moderate physical activities • Be comfortable being around animals. • Be willing to wear the volunteer uniform.
