Our aim is to bring awareness to the importance of respecting our natural world alongside the community, by creating experiences that enable visitors to leave feeling fulfilled and having a newfound enjoyment of what Australia’s natural flora and fauna have to offer.

We are excited to establish a volunteer program at the Sanctuary.

The maintenance volunteer will be responsible for: General Maintenance: • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including minor repairs and general upkeep of facilities. • Inspect and maintain the condition of enclosures, ensuring they are secure and safe for the animals. • Assist with the setup and takedown of events and activities. Groundskeeping: • Carry out landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, and watering. • Maintain pathways, ensuring they are clear and safe for visitors and staff. • Manage weeding and general cleanliness of the sanctuary grounds.

Equipment Management: • Maintain and organize maintenance tools and equipment. • Conduct regular checks to ensure all equipment is in good working condition and report any issues to the staff. • Assist with the inventory and restocking of maintenance supplies. Safety and Compliance: • Adhere to all health and safety regulations to ensure the safety of oneself, fellow volunteers, staff, and visitors. • Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the appropriate staff member immediately.

Supportive Tasks: • Collaborate with staff on projects to improve sanctuary facilities. • Assist sanctuary staff with additional tasks and projects as required. Selection Criteria: • Experience in a similar role. • Over 18 years • Offer a minimum 6-month commitment to the program • Be willing to work outdoors in all-weather / seasons • Able to perform moderate physical activities • Be comfortable being around animals. • Be willing to wear the volunteer uniform
