About the Role

The People and Culture Volunteer will support the HR team by managing the recruitment inbox, responding to general inquiries, and liaising with various stakeholders via email and telephone. This role involves maintaining and updating employee records, assisting candidates with paperwork, performing data entry, and supporting various HR administration tasks. Additionally, the volunteer will help develop job advertisements, update HR documentation, and track pre-employment checks. This position requires excellent communication, computer, and customer service skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

About the Team

The People and Culture team is part of the People, Place, and Enablement portfolio which includes Enabling Services (Operations and Information Technology, People and Culture, and Equity, Inclusion & Diversity).

The ASRC recognises that its people are at the heart of the ASRC movement and are key to delivering the range of services for people seeking asylum. The People & Culture team is primarily responsible for supporting the organisation's workforce (staff & volunteers) lifecycle from end to end. The People & Culture team supports the workforce to perform at their best, to ensure the highest quality of service for the ARC's key stakeholders; people seeking refuge and asylum in Australia.

Tasks & duties

  • Manage the Recruitment inbox and reply to general inquiries
  • Liaise with other volunteers, members, staff, and external stakeholders by email and telephone
  • Maintain, update, and archive employee records on HR Flare
  • Assist candidates in completing paperwork
  • Data entry and updating of data across our various platforms
  • Support with HR administration tasks
  • Developing job advertisements based on the template provided by the P&C team
  • Supporting HR projects
  • Updating HR documentation
  • Assisting in tracking of pre-employment checks including right to work, police check, and WWC
  • Updating and inputting all HR information and data relating to recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding into the HR tracking system
  • Tracking attendance at training

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Previous experience in an administrative role
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills and experience in using Google Suite
  • Accurate and fast data entry skills
  • High-level customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Proven ability to develop relationships of a professional nature that are inclusive and respectful of all stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively

Desirable

  • Qualifications in HR, Business Management, Psychology or Arts
  • Previous experience in HR
  • Knowledge of policy and
  • The lived experience of seeking asylum
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by our members
