Vacancies for Community Members on UOW Human Research Ethics Committees.

We are particularly interested in applications from individuals in the following categories: 1) General Community (Lay Person): a person who brings a broader community or consumer experience and has no paid affiliation with the University of Wollongong. No specific professional experience required! 2) Pastoral Member: any person who performs a pastoral care role in a community. For example, an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Elder, a minister of religion or religious group leader, a community group leader. 3) Lawyer: a current or previously practicing lawyer 4) Professional Carer: a person with current experience in the professional care, counselling or treatment of people; for example, a nurse or allied health professional.

Applicants should possess an ability to communicate well, be comfortable reading and communicating on a computer, and have sufficient time to attend monthly meetings and read research proposals and other relevant documents. Committees meet on average for half a day each month and positions are voluntary but travel expenses may be paid where appropriate.
