Tour de office

  • Seeking a visionary, non-executive chair to lead us through the next phase of growth
  • Work with an energetic and passionate board making an impact on the health and wellness of the Australian workforce
  • Opportunity to grow from volunteer to paid position

About Healthy Workplaces Healthy Workplaces is a charity that promotes wellness and engagement in the workplace. Our mission is to create healthy workplaces where employees can thrive and be productive. Since 2011, Healthy Workplaces has been motivating employees around the world to #QuitTheSit. We do this through our highly engaging, corporate wellness initiatives: Tour de Office and Step Forward.

Over the past 11 years, we’ve supported over 175 companies and over 30,000 participants with our programs. Participants have accumulated enough kilometres to do a few laps of the globe, and have raised over $1.41 million for charity in the process. It’s been an incredible journey, and we’re excited to continue bringing people together worldwide, to stay active and keep moving.

The Opportunity We are looking for a Chair of the Board to lead our engaged and experienced board, taking Healthy Workplaces into a new phase of growth. While the charity is based in Brisbane, the successful candidate could be based anywhere in Australia.

You will be responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to the organisation, working closely with board members and staff to ensure Healthy Workplaces continues to deliver high-quality programs and services.

Dedicated volunteers combined with a self-sustaining business model and fiscally prudent mindset have enabled Healthy Workplaces to punch above its weight when it comes to health promotion in the corporate wellness space. However, we recognise that now is the time to build a stronger foundation from which to grow our impact. As Chair of the Board, you will play a key role in writing the next chapter of our story.

Your core responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • guiding the board to ensure Healthy Workplaces continues to deliver high-quality programs and services;
  • chairing monthly board meetings and attending other events as required;
  • connecting and networking to build corporate uptake of Healthy Workplaces' initiatives;
  • working closely with the Charity Leader to further the financial growth of the organisation; and
  • being willing to assist regularly, potentially one day per week. Please Note: This is initially a volunteer position, with the capacity for remuneration in the future.

Who we're looking for You'll be joining an established and energetic board with members who have achieved professional success and share a passion for health and wellbeing. Previous experience as a chairperson or experience in a similar role will be highly valued as will knowledge of governance principles and practices. Central to your success will be your enthusiasm for Healthy Workplaces' mission and your ability to champion and lead the board into this new chapter.
