Future Living Trust Incorporated is a non-profit organisation that works to enable families of people with developmental disability to plan and implement services that enhance their quality of life and provide a long-term secure future, helping families answer the question "Who will be there when we are not?".  We are looking to increase the number of volunteers for our Personal Safeguarding Service (PSS).

The role of PSS Visitor involves befriending and regularly visiting a person with disability, from the time that parents become too frail or have passed away. PSS Visitors are trained to look out for the big and small issues affecting the lives of those they visit. They often form a close connection with the person they visit, sharing in their interests, enjoying their company and over time becoming a trusted and valued friend and advocate.

Whilst spending time with the service user, the volunteer will monitor their wellbeing and report back to Future Living the outcome of each visit. The organisation will advocate for the person if any issues or unmet needs are identified by the visitor.

Previous experience of volunteering or working with people living with disability is desirable but not essential.  More important is an empathy for older people and a genuine interest in befriending a person with a disability.
