Care Crew champions will assist vulnerable members of the community with a range of tasks in the phases of preparation, prevention, response, and recovery. From making sandwiches, to helping to remove green waste from an elderly persons yard, there is a way in which every Community Champion can contribute. Care Crew Champions rise to the occasion and are willing to get in and do what they can to help those in the community who need it most.

Responsibilities:

Care Crew members may be asked to complete a range of tasks as needed within our community. CSCI will only request the Care Crew to complete tasks which are deemed safe or fit the individual skills or interests of each Champion. Example of tasks for each phase of Disaster/Emergency Management include:

• Preparation or prevention phases: cleaning up outdoor spaces, helping with shopping or collecting other essential items, general cyclone preparation. • Response Phase: cleaning up after a flood, cyclone or other event, removing debris or rubbish, washing clothing, providing assistance with meals for those affected or response workers, peer emotional support, • Recovery Phase: peer and emotional support, repair tasks, cleaning, clearing of debris and rubbish

What you will bring to the role:

• Willingness to work with a diverse range of cultures • Understanding of community and their needs • Diverse backgrounds and experiences • Empathy and passion to caring towards the community. • Willingness to work with integrity, respect, confidentiality, and dignity • Hold a Blue Card or willingness to apply (no cost for volunteers) • Hold a current open drivers license
