Regional Advisory Committee – Voluntary Committee Member Roles

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is a not-for-profit organisation providing world class aeromedical, search and rescue services to those in need 24/7. The Service has more than 40 years of proud history, and operates from three bases in NSW (Tamworth, Belmont, Lismore) in addition to a Head Office and Deep Level Maintenance (DLM) facility based in Broadmeadow NSW. With a clear vision for our future – to be Australia’s leading Aeromedical and Rescue Service provider, we know the key to success is a motivated, trained and empowered team operating within a culture of professionalism and accountability.

The Service has one vacancy on each of its Northern Regional Advisory Committee and New England North West (NENW) Regional Advisory Committee.

The Service is inviting expressions of interest from experienced business and community leaders to join these committees. Based on the current membership profile, applicants who reside within the following areas will be highly regarded:

  • Northern Regional Advisory Committee: Byron Bay NSW or surrounding area.

  • New England North West Regional Advisory Committee: Narrabri, Wee Waa or Moree NSW or surrounding area.

The purpose of the Regional Advisory Committees is to advise and assist the Board and Senior Management Team of the Service on matters relevant to the local region. The Committees help to ensure the Service’s strategic direction and partnerships continue to serve the community’s best interests. Committee members work in a voluntary/unpaid capacity.

Each Regional Advisory Committee has up to 9 members, including its Chair and ensures strong local governance and advice on matters such as community partnerships and fundraising. Each Committee is expected to play a key role in the future of the Service.

Committee Member Roles

The key responsibilities of the Committee Member roles include:

  • Attend and participate in Regional Advisory Committee meetings (usually held no more than 4 to 5 times a year).

  • Provide advice and insights to the Service on matters affecting the community.

  • Provide feedback and insights to the Service on initiatives to improve community engagement and support.

  • Act in a manner that is consistent with the Service’s Board Constitution, Strategy and Values.

The key experience and attributes for the Committee position include:

  • Must reside in the Service Region for the Committee as outlined below and have demonstrated relationships within the local community.

  • Expertise and experience in regional community regions including a sound understanding of current and future community issues.

  • Proven track record of altruism and alignment with the Service’s values of Compassion, Unity, Accountability and Integrity.

  • Demonstrated governance, business and commercial acumen.

Northern Regional Advisory Committee

Service Region comprises the local government areas of Bellingen, Clarence Valley, Coffs Harbour, Kyogle, Richmond Valley, Ballina, Byron, Tweed Lismore and Tenterfield

New England North West Regional Advisory Committee

Service Region comprises the local government areas of Warrumbungle, Liverpool Plains, Tamworth, Gunnedah, Gilgandra, Coonamble, Warren, Walgett, Narrabri, Narromine, Walcha, Armidale, Bogan, Cobar, Bourke, Inverell, Glan Innes Severn, Gwydir, Moree Plains, Brewarrina, Uralla, Parkes, Dubbo, Central Darling and Unincorporated Far West
