Russian Ethnic Representative Council of Victoria (RERC) is seeking volunteers for the Community Visitor Volunteer Program.

The Community Visitor Volunteer plays a vital role in supporting elderly individuals who may experience loneliness. Their primary responsibility is to provide companionship and support by visiting regularly.

Volunteers typically visit once a week or every two weeks, spending about half an hour each time, over the course of 12 months. During these visits, their goal is to build a trusting relationship and bring joy to the elderly person's life.

Key tasks of a Community Visitor Volunteer include being friendly and approachable, engaging in enjoyable activities together, listening attentively, helping the individual connect with others in the community, maintaining confidentiality, being vigilant for any issues or concerns, and keeping a record of their visits.

By fulfilling these tasks, volunteers not only become a friend to the elderly but also serve as a vital link to the broader community, enriching the lives of those they visit.
