Signal Flare is a not-for-profit charity that supports the homeless people and anyone who is living in financial hardship in the larger Brisbane area.

ABOUT US

Signal Flare was founded by Grant Richards, better known as Grant the Polite Guy, who himself was homeless for one and a half years when he started the BBQs. We organise a minimum of four BBQs per year around the greater Brisbane area. At these BBQs everyone shares a free lunch, and our guests also receive much needed basics such as clothes, shoes, toiletries, non-perishable foods, and children’s toys for free.

These items are all donated by the community, and we also offer haircuts, health checks, showers, and laundry. We promote social inclusion and equality where people from all walks of life come together and find connections and friendship at our BBQs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is integral to our ability to continue our work and to grow, and is perfect for someone who loves event coordination and will work with the team to ensure all Pre-Event preparation is done.

The Event Coordinator will oversee Signal Flare’s social BBQ gathering on the day of the event, with a limited amount of pre-work to prepare for the day. This role requires a full day on the particular event day, and a preparation time of 1-2 hours per week between events.

  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Previous experience of logistics and project coordination is an asset
