Mahboba’s Promise is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing a sustainable future to vulnerable women and children in Afghanistan, surrounding regions, and Australia.

The organisation has been in operation for 25 years, committed to building a prosperous future for marginalised women, children, widows and orphans. More recently the organisation has also pivoted to provide specialised support to the growing cohort of refugees and asylum seekers from Afghanistan and surrounding regions here in Sydney.

Through connections with communities in Afghanistan, we have delivered critical humanitarian aid during crises and driven long-term sustainable change through a range of programs including four orphanages across rural provinces in Afghanistan, outreach programs, schools and education programs, healthcare clinics, micro-businesses, agricultural skills building projects and women empowerment initiatives. To date our work has positively impact over 1.6 million people.

Role Responsibilities for Supporter Care Coordinator:

  • Develop and implement strategies to engage with existing supporters.
  • Manage donor inquiries, thank you letters, and acknowledgements promptly and professionally.
  • Execute regular supporter communications including releases such as newsletters, impact reports, campaign/fundraising information.
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing Manager to ensure messaging is aligned with marketing releases and is ‘on brand’.
  • Monitor competitor donor/sponsorship/supporter trends and regularly revise Supporter Care initiatives.
  • Map Supporter Care processes and produce guidelines/handbooks to ensure team members are fully enabled and inefficiencies are addressed.
  • Maintain the supporter database, ensuring the data entry is accurate.
  • Work with the Supporter Care Lead to improve the ways of obtaining information such as recipient and program updates, success stories, milestones to share with our supporters.
  • Use Mail Chimp to create personalised and branded content to communicate to our supporters.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • A degree in Communication, PR, Marketing, non-profit Management or relevant field
  • Previous experience in customer care, supporter care or related roles in a similar non-profit field would be an advantage
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with sponsors
  • Strong customer service orientation with a focus on providing a positive experience for sponsors
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships with sponsors and the team
  • Attention to details in managing donation records and ensuring accuracy in communications
  • A genuine passion for the organisation’s mission and commitment to create positive impact
