Hello to our Community - The YMCA Schools' Breakfast will reach 18 in September 2024 and has delivered over 8.7M breakfasts for students from Prep to year 12 since 2006! Our organisation is putting a call out on behalf over 200 schools and we are still growing, to find you, the people who would like to give back to community at a school, putting in the orders, preparing toast and cereals to serve to our young people. You may send the orders to us for their replenishment, tidy and pack away. Breakfasts generally run from 8am-845am serving, and set up and wash up/pack up before and after which doesn't take long. It's a wonderful way to assist your local community, meet other like minded people who think the wellbeing of physical and mental health for children is important.

The opportunity could be 1-5 times a week depending on the needs of the school and how often you are keen to assist.

You will need to have a current Volunteering Blue Card to be permitted on the school grounds and for clarity it is at the discretion of the school to accept a Volunteer. We don't manage the Volunteers from the YMCA Schools' Breakfast program however we do have an induction manual to assist our Volunteers in what the program is about, how we run, and we work closely with our Department of Education Queensland schools and management. You would onboard with the school and work with their faculty and any onboarding training they may need for you to do for compliance, safety etc. Once that is all complete you will become an integral part of the fabric of the days of the lives of our learning young people for their Breakfast Club. Did you know that a child having breakfast can improve their behaviour and reduce if not negate the disruption in classrooms? Children who have a full tummy will focus better, be more engaged with their friends, peers and teachers, it helps to build a strong community, and leaves children feeling valued. Please know that children without breakfast isn't always a focus on disadvantage, poverty, however also busy working families needing some support. Imagine being the friendly face for school students to see when they arrive, and provide them with toast, cereal, fruit, with a positive outlook to their day, a friendly hello and chat and gives our Volunteers a true appreciation of helping their local schools. If you are interested in being a Volunteer for the YMCA Schools' Breakfast Program Schools, please reach out. Even if this ad isn't in the area you are looking for, please reach out and we will organise an event for people to come along and hear about where we do need support and ask us about the program. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you.
