The Escort Service plays an important part in helping patients attend their appointments at other major hospitals, clinics or nursing homes. Volunteer Escorts provide effective customer service to patients of the Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre (HRC) through the support and assistance to accompany patients who have been booked to attend appointments in various locations such as dental or eye clinic appointments.

Duties • Support patients in attending appointments by applicable travel options (taxi) and escorting the patient to the destination • Support patients in attending appointments or outings for personal reasons via government owned vehicles following a successful driving application • Assist the patient with checking in for their appointment and other information • Working cooperatively with hospital and Allied Health staff to ensure the non-clinical and support needs of patients are met • Assist the patient with wheelchair escorts • Liaise with hospital staff to ensure the patient welfare is priority (providing drinks of water etc)

Hours of Service Shift times: Between 7:30am to 4:30pm (depending on escort booking time slot and destination) Days: Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) Location of shift: Various locations – all commencing at HRC. Please note: This volunteer role entails travelling with patients in Taxis, Access Taxis, Ambulances, or Government fleet cars (Licence and Driving agreement required for fleet vehicles only)
