Food Rescue - Cargo Carts Volunteers

We run a hub where homeless service users can come for a shower, wash their clothes, receive other services but they sure are hungry. The hub provides meals but wouldn't be able to do this without the generous donations from our collaborators. Some of these collaborators are cafes and restaurants in the city. Our Cargo Cart volunteers meet in the city for a chat, then walk to collect the carts. The carts have a large Esky in them, and the volunteers push these to the restaurants that have agreed to donate their left-over foods. They are lovely people, and it makes them feel good when they see you and love to get to know you. Once you have visited all the places you have been allocated, you return the Cargo Carts where they are met with volunteer drivers to return the food to our hub. It's a really social and rewarding role for a few hours on a Friday afternoon. The carts are not heavy, and they are easy to push. So, if you like a bit of a walk and a chat, this role is for you. We would love to hear from you and look forward to you getting in touch.
