Caretaker/ Museum Guide

Carnarvon Heritage Group

Carnarvon Heritage Precinct is a not for profit incorporated association and registered charity. We are custodians of various heritage and other assets including the One Mile Museum, the Babbage Island Railway Museum and the Lighthouse Keepers Cottage and compound.

We aim to have our museums open 7 days a week for visitors and to continue to develop and protect our heritage.

We have a number of positions available. Firstly for a live in caretaker couple and secondly for local volunteers. All positions involve opening and attending our museums as a visitor guide and assistant, including to welcome guests and take entrance fees.

The in caretaker will have a caravan site and free power and water. For all volunteers, the benefits include meeting and assisting visitors, learning about the vast history of the one Mile jetty and the surrounding heritage precinct, helping the Carnarvon Heritage Group to develop the precinct area with ideas and hands on assistance, and being in a very beautiful area. For the Carnarvon Heritage Group the benefit of having volunteers will be that the museum can be open and enjoyed by visitors to the heritage precinct.
