About the Program

Elizabeth House is more than just a Positive Ageing Centre; it is a hub of connection and support for residents aged 50 and above. Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our services, offering their time and dedication to enrich the lives of others. As a Transport Support Volunteer, you will assist Elizabeth House’s clients with transportation, provide companionship and ensure their safety during their journeys on the Community Bus to and from the centre.

Key Tasks

  • Chat with the passengers, making them feel welcome and included.
  • Provide support with walkers, shopping, and general passenger safety.
  • Support the driver with navigation and communication.
  • Uphold professionalism and care throughout the journey.
  • Report incidents, hazards, and accidents promptly.

Skills/Knowledge/Personal Qualities

  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Friendly and personable.
  • Empathy with older adults and people with disabilities.
  • Excellent customer service skills or willingness to undergo training.
  • Ability to relate to a diverse range of people.

Time Commitment Maximum 15 hours a week. The minimum per week is 6-7 hours.

Special Requirements

  • Valid South Australian driver's license.
  • Satisfactory National Police Check (NPC) – this can be organised for you.
  • The successful applicant must possess and provide a Department of Human Services (DHS) clearance (Aged Care Sector) and (NDIS Worker Check) prior to an offer of employment. - this can be organised for you.
  • Medical Clearance.
  • Competency level achieved by driving – this will be organised for you.
