Ambulance Officers/Volunteer Support Role

Being part of St John Ambulance WA is a very rewarding & important role within your Community.

There are a couple of volunteering opportunities available.

As an ambulance officer, your roles could include:

  • Attending Emergency calls
  • Routine patient transfers
  • Using priceless first-aid knowledge to help at community events.
  • Completing regular training to keep your skills sharpened.

As an Ambulance Officer you would be providing a duty of care to all patients in all different circumstances, in their time of need. You would need to handle extreme situations on a regular basis that could be facing you on a callout.

  • You must have a valid C Class Driver license
  • To be able to pass a National Police Check
  • Physically able to perform CPR
  • Can commit to a minimum of 5 volunteer hours per month,
  • Commit to completing a first aid course with St John (provided at no cost)
  • Be able to cope with high adrenaline situations, and be calm of mind.
  • Be discreet and agree to a Confidentiality agreement.

The volunteer support role is less rigorous, and includes duties such as:

  • Restocking all stock and the Ambulance.
  • Cleaning within the sub center building and cleaning of the Ambulance.
  • General duties around the center.

This role does not include any Admin duties. You would need to be reliable and have a certain amount of mobility & fitness and also pass a National Police Clearance.
