The PMIQ Academic Outreach portfolio is the liaison between PMIQ and universities across the state, strengthening collaboration and evangelizing the profession of Project Management.

The portfolio intends to use various engagements to develop relationships with universities and other educational institutions to raise knowledge and awareness of the chapter’s work, student projects, curriculum development tuned to current industry needs and collaborative research. This will be supported by vibrant and sustained interaction with students and academics using a platform where the industry and academia come together to discuss, share, build knowledge and create future directions.

This portfolio also aims to identify and develop passionate project management professionals who will function as ambassadors of PMI and PMIQ and support its Project Management advocacy efforts in Australia. These professionals will be either academics and students of various institutions or employees of industry organizations who will work with PMIQ to garner support, visibility, and space for Project Management.

Key duties of the DAD will include: • Collaborate with the Director of Academic Outreach to implement initiatives to strengthen the collaboration between PMIQ and academic institutions. • Assist in developing strategies to integrate project management into school curricula and support faculty members in implementing project management concepts. • Foster engagement with students and organize networking opportunities with professional project managers. • Contribute to developing programs, resources, and initiatives to promote project management education and awareness. • Assist in maintaining relationships with faculty members, university staff, and stakeholders. • Support the management of the PMIQ Academic portfolio team and contribute to reporting and documentation.

This role will prioritise volunteers who are taking up their PhD studies but it is not a requirement
