Prior to camp

  • Contribute to the activities at pre-camp day.
  • Assist as required with the administration & mail out of information to mentors confirming their place on camp, including the mentor handbook & kit list etc. (unless already done so by the Puddle Jumper’s staff.)
  • As directed by the program coordinator/s, four or five days before the camp, telephone children, young people and mentors in the group to confirm they are still attending the camp, immediately advise program coordinator/s if anyone will not be attending.

During camp

  • Ensuring the participants on camp are having a good time.
  • Explaining anything that the participants do not understand. Ensuring they follow rules/guidelines, and are safe at all times.
  • Fulfilling any reasonable requests made by the program coordinators.
  • Planning and running activities as required.
  • Helping in the kitchen when required.
  • Participate in the post camp debrief including assisting where necessary.
  • Have fun!!

Skills:

  • Effective communication skills to deal effectively with people at all levels
  • Ability to work with other people in a supportive, co-operative manner
  • Ability to put a participants needs first, and have a bit of fun
  • Not scared to look a little silly/embarrass oneself/step out of your comfort zone/play a game you wouldn’t usually, for the enjoyment of the participants

Knowledge: (or willing to learn)

  • Understanding of Puddle Jumpers Inc. policies and procedures

Experience: (Desirable although NOT essential)

  • No experience necessary

Qualifications: (Desirable although NOT essential)

Training Required: (Or willingness to undergo training)

  • Basic Food Hygiene / Handling.
  • Child Safe Environments Certificate
