Position title: Exhibit Room Attendant Location: Como House and Gardens
Start Date : 24th May

Room attendant for House of Discovery Installation, Tablescaping and later Como Christmas Room attendees represent the NTAV throughout the house, answer questions and protect the house during open houses. Hours required per week : Flexible but with minimum requirement of 5 hour shift per day per fortnight.

Volunteer activities could include: Contribute as a National Trust volunteer towards achieving our mission through participation as a Volunteer Room Attendant.
Protect the house during Open House session times
Inspire the community to appreciate, conserve and celebrate its built, natural and cultural heritage Responsible for counting and managing visitors in house during emergency – getting to evacuation point.
Answer questions from the public, escalating to property manager if required.

Knowledge and Skills required :
Interest in history, art, or cultural heritage, or a desire to learn more. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to learn the history of the house and the details of installations.
Time management
Must be digitally literate to access rosters

Training and skill development in: National Trust general induction for all volunteers.
Site Induction by Property Manager
Other training as determined by the Property Manager
Provision of detailed House Guide notes, relevant research and information on current House of Discovery.

You will be one of a team of experienced volunteers. The National Trust is a not for profit organisation that aims to conserve Australia’s history and heritage for present and future generations. Volunteers can be provided with a letter of reference.

As part of the application process, we will ask you to agree to register as a National Trust Volunteer. Orientation and training are provided. Volunteers are required to have a current Working with Children’s Card (free for volunteers).
