All new volunteers are provided with an orientation to the emergency department and role, initial and ongoing support from the Volunteer Manager and ED Volunteer Team Leader helps to ensure volunteers are comfortable, confident, and happy in their roles.

Key Responsibilities *Perform duties under the direction and supervision of ED staff.

• Meet and greet people attending the ED with a clear understanding of confidential issues. Escort patients, families, and visitors around the Emergency Department. Provide directions. Provide information about hospital facilities and amenities, and the surrounding areas. Provide colouring packs to children, offer blankets, and general conversation to those in ED. Maintain statistical information about the assistance supplied. Perform other reasonable tasks as designated by the Volunteer Manager or Team Leader.
