Trishaw pilot/cyclists - Woodbridge

Cycling Without Age Australia

Cycling Without Age is an international, not-for-profit organisation which connects elderly people to their local community by taking them out on specially designed trishaw e-bikes to allow them to ‘feel the wind in their hair’! For the comfort of our passengers we ride at a maximum 10kph.

Steps to becoming a Volunteer Roles include: Trishaw Pilot the cyclist who operates the e-assist trishaw and Ride Coordinator (non rider) who meets & greets passengers, completes the Ride Register documenting all who attend on the day, takes donations & writes receipts, shows passengers how to get on/off the trishaw (no manual handling), promotes the rides on the day and answers questions of the public.

  • Attend an Introduction to Trishaw Volunteer training session
  • Register to volunteer on Better Impact - our online volunteer management system
  • Pilot Practice - get experience and be confident riding the trishaw
  • Get assessed before taking passengers for rides - Pilot Competency
  • Provide a Police Clearance (less than 5yrs old)
  • Provide proof of Covid & flu vaccination (recommended)
  • READY to take passengers for RIDES! Volunteers will require a small amount of computer skills, as we use an online volunteer platform Better Impact to apply for shifts. You will be required to have a mobile phone and a bicycle helmet (ideally less than five years old)

The power of getting outdoors and connecting with others is well recognised for improving mental health..

  • Our volunteers love sharing their love of cycling with those that can't
  • Variety, we like being able to choose which days we volunteer at from week to week, we are not locked into a set day/location unless we want to
  • Seeing the smile on the faces of our passengers makes our day and theirs!
