About volunteering with us

We provide pop-up hairdressing/barber services at some of WA’s leading community service organisations, such as, St Barts, 55 Central, Vinnies WA – Passages Engagement Hub and Uniting WA – Tranby Engagement Hub. These organisations provide homelessness services, such as drop-in service hubs or transitional housing to people experiencing homelessness in our community.

We attend on a Monday or Tuesday for 2-hour sessions, either in the morning or afternoon on a monthly or 6 weekly basis at each of these locations.

What does the role do?

Our Health and Safety Coordinator, works with our WA Services team to ensure our health and safety processes and systems enable our volunteers to be safe when providing our services in each of our service locations. This role also provides input into safety information included in our induction and training materials.

What do we need from you?

  • Previous experience in a health and safety role.
  • Have good communication and organisational skills.
  • Have an outgoing and friendly personality to be able to coach others.
  • Be available once-a-week on Monday evening for WA Operations Team Meeting
  • Ability to be flexible to attend services (Monday or Tuesday) to observe the environment and activities, to inform improvements to the way we operate.

If you’re a community-minded person and motivated to make a difference, this may be the perfect role for you.

What support do you get?

The Short Back and Sidewalks team will deliver an induction so you can learn more about what we do and how we do it.
