Harold Hawthorne Community Centre is a not-for-profit organisation based in Carlisle that has been serving the community since 1968. Our vibrant Centre provides community activities, meals, care to people living in their own homes, independent living retirement village and social housing units. We are dedicated to assisting seniors to continue to live independently and with dignity within their community.

We are seeking new Committee Members to join our Management Committee (Board of Management). Committee Members play an important role in our organisation by providing strategic leadership, governance and decision making to contribute to the achievement of the Centre’s mission, goals and objectives.

The responsibilities include reading reports, attending and actively participating in monthly Committee meetings and annual general meetings.  The Committee meetings are held at 5:15pm for approximately 1.5 hours, on the third Monday of each month and reports are provided the week prior.  An Induction will be provided to ensure a successful introduction to the Management Committee.

People with the following attributes are encouraged to apply.

  • An interest or prior background in aged care, community service or retirement living.
  • Management, leadership or governance background.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Requirements: A Volunteer National Police Clearance (VNPC) certificate dated within the past three months, or we can assist to obtain one at our expense. COVID-19 Vaccinations are strongly encouraged.
