Copy of Medical Supply Sorting and Repackaging

Save Our Supplies

Logo for Save Our Supplies

At Save Our Supplies (SOS) we collect clean medical waste items from our hospitals that would have previously been dumped to landfill. We repurpose this “waste” into usable medical supplies and work with other Charities, eg. Rotary International, to send it to people in desperate need of better health care.

In the last 12 months we sent over $1.1m worth of supplies to:

  • Developing countries that lack access to clean medical supplies
  • War torn regions that desperately need medical supplies
  • The aged, homeless and other disadvantaged groups in Australia
  • Australian communities suffering from fires and floods
  • Aussie doctors travelling to communities in need of better health care.

In the next 12 months with your help, we expect to send closer to $10m worth of supplies, as well as preventing over 500 tonnes of landfill!! We need a team of dedicated Brisbane-based volunteers to help sort, catalog and repackage the clean “waste” that we collect from hospitals and turn it into usable medical supplies.

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of a medical practitioner you will help to:

  • Sort and organise expired/unused medical supplies in our air-conditioned warehouse.
  • Count and document the quantities of supplies.
  • Repackage the supplies ready for distribution.
  • Assist in any additional tasks related to warehouse operations, as needed.
