Aged Care Volunteer Visitor – Come and join us! (Reservoir)

Inclusion Melbourne

Logo for Inclusion Melbourne

Inclusion Melbourne is an auspice in the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS); a national program funded by the Australian Government that aims to enrich the quality of life of older people and enhance their social connectedness.

As an Inclusion Melbourne Aged Care Volunteer Visitor, you’ll spend time with someone in your local community who may be lonely or socially isolated. We're looking for caring individuals who can sit and have a chat, reminisce and talk about topics of interest with elderly people in their own homes. Play card games, watch a movie, have a cuppa, go for a walk outside, or visit your local coffee shop or men’s shed group.

Our Volunteer Coordinator will spend time with you to understand your interests and background, and they’ll work to match you with a client in a suburb nearby who may share these similar interests.

Currently we have a client in Reservoir who is interested in short walks, going out for coffee, chatting, playing backgammon or watching AFL (Carlton fan) . He is fluent in English and Greek and also speaks some French. Our client would enjoy the company of a caring, reliable and empathetic volunteer with good communication skills and an ability to commit to weekly or fortnightly visits. (weekends or afternoons preferably)

Your impact: Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits on a fortnightly basis for a minimum of 12 months are required. Visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help older people feel less isolated. Your visits will bring great joy and happiness to the recipient you are matched with.
