Volunteers are matched to a resident in an aged care facility or a resident living in their own home according to skills, interests, background, language. Training and ongoing support is provided. Positions are undertaken within the Hume area, we currently have specific needs in Wodonga and Beechworth, areas. Role description is the same however locations and facilities differ. Here is an opportunity to utilise your life skills including good communication skills, reliability, resilience, confidence to visit independently and some spare time. The outlook of a successful volunteer needs to be non-judgemental and accepting of diversity in gender preferences, lifestyles, culture, religious views and disability. Initial orientation to the aged care environment or home, ongoing training and support is provided. Be matched on a one-to-one basis with a resident with similar interests, or a small group of 2 - 3 residents, visit at least fortnightly, provide a link with the community, share interests and hobbies and show a genuine interest in the person. Positions are undertaken within the Hume area, we currently have specific needs in Wodonga and Beechworth areas Days/time to be negotiated with volunteer.
