About the role

The Health and Safety Advisor Volunteer will work closely with the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Lead to develop, implement and evaluate risk management policies and procedures whilst driving forward a culture of positive health, safety, and wellbeing across the organisation.

Program: People & Culture

The ASRC recognises that its people are at the heart of the ASRC movement and are key to delivering a broad range of services for people seeking asylum. The People & Culture team’s primary responsibility is to support its people, overseeing the employee and volunteer lifecycle from end to end.

This involves four key areas: Recruitment and Employer Branding; Onboarding, Orientation and Exiting; Performance, Grievance/Complaint Management and Team Development; and Health, Safety & Wellbeing. Throughout the employee and volunteer lifecycle, the P&C team supports all staff and volunteers to perform at their best, ensuring the highest quality of service for people seeking refuge and asylum in Australia.

Key responsibilites

  • Assist with the development of health and safety procedures and policies
  • Facilitate risk assessments
  • Complete inspections
  • Provide health and safety support to all departments
  • Assist with health, safety, and wellbeing administration, notice boards, signage, and incentives
  • Any other tasks that are deemed necessary and within skill capacity

What we're looking for

  • Good computer literacy
  • Previous experience in Health and Safety
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience in Psychological safety is desirable
