Stalls and Events coordinator

Summary As the Stalls and Events Coordinator, you’ll help us deliver events and stalls at community events to raise awareness of our advocacy work, sign up new members and help encourage community members to ride more often.

What you’ll do Find opportunities for Pedal Power to attend community events Create volunteer rosters for staffing stalls and events
Organising engaging materials for stalls Bump in and out of stalls and events Assist in organising events such as forums and movie nights.

Time commitment Flexible commitment of up to 2 hours per week varying with the event/stall schedule.

Program coordinator

Summary As Program Coordinator you will help support the administration of our cycling programs. We offer a range of cycling programs for Canberrans including learn-to-ride classes for children and adults, maintenance courses and The Bike Library.

What you’ll do

Organise Pedal Power programs, including booking venues, managing participant registration, printing participant certificates etc. Liaise with trainers and participants over any issues associated with programs. Organise a train-the-trainer session once every six months (to be led by an official trainer) Identify and pursue new program opportunities Assist in the administration of The Bike Library program including creating volunteer rosters and attending organising meetings

Time commitment Up to 4 hours per week varying with the training schedule. Work can be done flexibly, though some office time will be required for printing certificates etc.

Campaigns Coordinator

Summary Help create engaging events for Greater Canberra supporters and for the public.

What you’ll do

Lead the established Campaign Team to implement campaign plans Help organise monthly meetings including facilitating the meeting and writing the agenda
Be the point of contact between staff and the campaign team

Time commitment 2 hours per week. Work can be done flexibly, from home or the Pedal Power office to fit in with other commitments.

Newsletter and Magazine assistant

Summary Help us keep members and supporters up to date via our fortnightly e-newsletter “NewsWheel” and quarterly digital magazine “Canberra Cyclist”.

What you’ll do Proofread and edit draft articles
Assist in putting together the e-newsletter and digital magazine
Sourcing new ideas and articles to ensure a diversity in topics
Conducting short interviews for article content

Time commitment Up to 2 hours per week. Work can be done flexibly, from home or the Pedal Power office to fit in with other commitments.

Web designer Summary

Refresh Pedal Power’s website and help to keep it up to date.

What you’ll do Refresh our website to better highlight our work and achievements Design new web pages to communicate our ideas and attract new supporters

Time commitment Up to 2 hours per week. Work can be done flexibly, from home or the Pedal Power office to fit in with other commitments.

Member callers

Summary Call Pedal Power members to ask them to renew their membership.

What you’ll do

Call members to remind them about their expired membership Renew memberships over the phone
Improve scripts for calling
Record feedback on why members choose to renew/not renew
Update member details where necessary

Time commitment Up to 3 hours per week. Work can be done flexibly, from home or the Pedal Power office to fit in with other commitments.

Bike Mechanics

Summary Join our team of volunteer mechanics who work on bikes that have been donated to the Bike Library.

What you’ll do

Assisting in repairing and checking over secondhand bikes that have been donated
Assist in loaning out bikes to the community May include picking up bikes to be donated or supplies such as bike locks and helmets Learn from other bike mechanics to improve your knowledge and skills Attend ‘Fix n Ride’ events

Time commitment Up to 3 hours per week on Tuesdays between 11am – 2pm. Work is carried out at the Bike Library at the Margaret Hendry School in Taylor.
