Bushfire brigade volunteers play a significant and vital role in helping to ensure their local communities are safe. Volunteer firefighters are trained and equipped to carry out a range of activities including:

  • Emergency response to bush and scrub fires.
  • Undertaking local fire prevention activities with the community.
  • Supporting other emergency service agencies as required.
  • Community education and engagement.

Your duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the brigade in both operational and non-operational duties.
  • Follow lawful directions from the brigade officers, crew leaders and DFES staff.
  • Ensure the safety of yourself and those around you.
  • Attend brigade meetings and training as required.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment and facilities.
  • Attend emergency incidents when available.
