Job Description

Key responsibilities

Driving: Bringing a high level of driving capability, friendly professionalism and reliability to collecting donated food.

Vehicle care: Drivers are key in ensuring the vehicle is safe and fully operational by regularly checking tyres, fuel levels and monitoring oil and water levels. Diligently ensure vehicle is checked before each shift and rectify any issues before collecting donations, reporting issues and repairs to the Corps Officer.β€―

Administration: Limited to filling in the vehicle log book and ensuring an identification badge is worn at all times, as well communications with Corps Officer regarding any concerns that may arise.

Stock handling: Unload donated food, unpack and stock shelves and fridge/freezer. Assemble food packs as required.

Qualifications and skills (desired/required)

This role requires volunteers to have a current C Class drivers license

Experience driving a small van is preferable

Customer service experience highly regarded

Background check requirements

Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation. Where an applicant has disclosable history, the selection process includes a fair assessment and a risk management approach. Collection of personal information is handled per our privacy and confidentiality policies. Below is what is required for this role:

As this role involves driving a TSA vehicle, it requires a Police Check

This driving role is restricted to contact with adults only, therefore a Working With Children Check is not required

Time commitment

The following shifts are available and shared with other volunteer drivers: Mondays 8:00am to 10:30am, Tuesdays, 9:00am to 12:00pm, and Sundays 10.30am - 12.00pm

Development opportunities with this role

This role will give volunteers an opportunity to develop skills working as part of a large team, and build experience in delivery and logistic activity. There will also be opportunity to experience the workings of a faith-based, not for profit organisation, transforming lives.β€―
