MS Brissie to the Bay Event Volunteer

MS Queensland

The Event: The MS Brissie to the Bay bike ride has been a popular event on the Brisbane fundraising event scene over the last 30 years. Participants are able to choose between distances of 10km, 25km, 50km, 100km or 130km, with each course tackling different challenges and filled with different scenery from Brisbane city all the way out to the Wynnum foreshore.
Date: Sunday 9th June, 2024 Event site: Musgrave Park, South Brisbane

Course Marshal Locations: Brisbane, South Brisbane, Norman Park, Morningside, Wynnum, Wellington Point, Cleveland, Belmont, Carindale, Norman Park, Cannon Hill, Redland Bay, Victoria Point, etc.

The Roles: Our Event Day Volunteer roles are many and varied – we have on course roles, such as course marshals and refreshment station assistants and event site roles, such as start line marshals and merchandise handlers.

Shifts are varied dependent on the exact role, however the event runs from 5:00am – 2:30pm, so the shifts will be within this time frame.

The Organisation: The MS Brissie to the Bay ride is a fundraising event run by the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Queensland (MS Queensland). MS Queensland is a leading not-for-profit organisation, based in Brisbane, providing specialised services to benefit people living with MS and other chronic progressive neurological conditions (PND) throughout Queensland. We exist to help people living with MS to get the best out of life, to advocate for change and to search for a cure.

The money raised by the MS Brissie to the Bay participants enables MS Queensland to provide critical programs and support for the increasing number of people diagnosed with MS. Together, with your support as a superstar volunteer for this event, we can ensure that no one has to face MS alone.

What we’re looking for in a volunteer: We’re looking for people who are friendly and approachable, who are always smiling and who are prepared to give our participants the best event experience ever. You must work well under pressure, be willing to take direction and be able to think on your feet. Speaking of feet, you will be standing on them for the duration of your shift, so you should be comfortable with this too.

We recommend that if you select an on course Event Volunteer role that you look to pair up with a friend – it’s always more fun with company on course.
