Youth Vocational Mentoring Roles - Coburg High School Term 3

Inner Northern LLEN

School-based Vocational Mentoring

Since 2020, the Vocational Mentoring Exchange has recruited, trained and supported over 100 vocational mentors from all walks of life who have volunteered to assist young people from the inner north of Melbourne in their career transition journey.

This group of passionate and skilled volunteers provide much needed mentoring support for socially/economically disadvantaged young people aged 16-25 in school or community settings.

One of the four VME mentoring streams, the Mentoring Matters program brings volunteers into the VCAL/VCE Vocational Major classroom weekly for 2 hours over a 11 week term. Led by the classroom teacher in collaboration with the mentor group, you will join other mentors in the classroom to work closely with your small group of 1-3 Year 12 students.

We are now recruiting for 2024 programs and seek volunteers with Australian work experience.

Through a range of discussions, activities and an excursion into industry, mentors will draw on their own skills and work experience to support their mentee(s) to complete the VME Mentoring Matters Program.

No previous mentoring experience is required as free and comprehensive training, support and resources are provided.

If you can spare up to 30 hours in July-September and have a desire to support a young person, we have a range of highly rewarding roles available in Merri-bek (prev. Moreland), Yarra and Darebin secondary schools.
