Logo for Uniting AgeWell

Homeshare is an innovative way of bringing together two groups of people with needs: A person over 65 needs someone in the house at night and help with household jobs and the accommodation seeker (Homeshare Volunteer) needs somewhere safe and affordable to live. Every match is different but might include activities such as shopping and cooking, light housework, garden assistance, care of pets, companionship and overnight presence in the home. You are able to negotiate days and evenings where you may be late home or spend a night away.

Successful Homeshare Volunteers are required to: • Provide practical help and companionship each week • Commit to the Homeshare agreement for a minimum of 6 months • Attend information and training activities • Pay contribution towards utilities (gas, electricity etc) • Maintain interest and contribute to the wellbeing of the homeowner. • Complete required safety checks (Police check & Working With Children Check, Covid and Flu Vaccination, Interview & Reference checks)
