You don’t need to speak another language or be a teacher. You do need to be able to speak and write English. We would love other migrants or refugees to apply. As an AMEP volunteer tutor, you will receive comprehensive training, as no previous teaching experience is required. As a volunteer, you will be fully supported to be confident in your role. AMEP has high quality support online resources to help you in your tutor role.

What exactly does a Volunteer Tutor do? •A volunteer tutor works with an AMEP student for 1 hour per week over a six month period. Of course, AMEP volunteers are welcome to spend more time if they wish. •Completes a free upfront online training program with ongoing help from the TAFE Teacher. •Uses the Home Tutor Resource Packs to help students at all levels of their English learning journey. •Contact with the student can be face to face or via video calls. •If meeting face to face you may choose to meet in the TAFE Library, in a cafe or other venue agreed by yourself and the student. •Lesson times are flexible and can be anytime -whatever suits the student and yourself.
