9 Lives Cat Rescue has been rescuing abandoned, abused and stray cats in Perth WA since 2009. We believe in advocating for all cats in our care which is why our motto is ‘until they all have a home’. 9 Lives is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers which means we rely solely on donations to operate. All money goes directly to the cats and their care. We operate on a network of foster carers located all over Perth which allows the cats we rescue to receive the care they need until they are ready for their forever homes
Job Brief:This volunteer position supports our Foster Co-ordinator care for the people who make a positive difference to cat welfare by fostering our cats and kittens. It is a hands-on role which necessitates building strong relationships with foster carers and ensuring they have everything they need to look after their foster cats.. The role also involves driving to pick up cats coming into our care or moving them between foster carers as needed.
Key Requirements:·
● Complete home visits for new foster carers ● Ensure new foster carers have all the supplies they need in preparation for a cat being placed with them and inform them about how to order food, arrange vet appointments and seek medical support ● Escalate emergency medical cases to the medical advisor ● Arrange transportation of cats to foster carers ● Regularly check in with foster carers on the progress of cats in foster care and determine if they are ready for adoption ● Ensure foster carers have submitted a profile and pictures for cats ready for adoption ● Attend weekly video calls as part of the operations team
Essential: must have a valid Australian driving licence and own vehicle to be able to transport cats. Experience of caring for cats and a willingness to learn more about cats
Desirable: Experience as a foster carer and/or a Certificate II in Animal Studies
