The aim of our Housing Support Program is to support the housing needs of new arrivals. Housing is one of the most significant factors in successful settlement. Upon arriving in Australia a contractor provides transport for our families to one of the short term rental properties that we manage in Geelong. They then receive support from our team, in settling into life in Australia. This is often quite daunting and many of our newly arrived families have spent many years in refugee camps overseas. We often have single mothers with their children.

This role will involve providing clients support and assistance in: • Mowing lawns at our short-term accommodation rental as many of our newly arrived, have never learnt how to do this. • Provide your own lawn mower, edge trimmer and equipment needed. • The garden green bin will be available for you to dispose of grass clippings.

A volunteer in the Volunteer Housing Support Program is expected to provide a friendly face and a desire to help. A volunteer with the Volunteer Housing Support Program is also required to:

• Keep a record of your attendance and complete a running sheet detailing the houses you have been to and time attended etc. • Comply with all Cultura policies and procedures relating to the program including the Volunteer Policy, Confidentiality, Code of Conduct, Complaints / Grievances; and, • Seek the support of staff at Cultura relating to any concerns or issues they have encountered whilst volunteering.
