About the Program

A key recommendation from the Royal Commission emphasised the crucial role of families and carers in not only caring for their loved ones, but also in the overall functioning and sustainability of the mental health system.

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect (Connect Centres) will form a vital component of the integrated services provided in the reformed Mental Health and Wellbeing system in Victoria.

Services will be provided primarily by a team of individuals with personal experience as carers, and will offer support to families, carers, kin, and supporters of individuals facing mental health challenges, psychological distress, mental illness, or substance use concerns.

About the role

We are looking for volunteer driver who will Provide a warm, inclusive, and welcoming approach to assist with transport of carers/supporters to and from events (i.e., transport to and from walking group destination, picking up guest speakers/facilitators

As a volunteer with the Connect Centres, you will play a meaningful role in supporting the centre activities to ensure that carers and their families receive empowering, holistic and inclusive support and care. More specifically, your time with us might see you helping with creating a welcoming environment and experience for people who visit or seek to connect with us, participating in community engagement or facilitating group activities on site and/or in the community.

If you have experience of caring for a loved one along their mental health journey and can see yourself helping others in our community who share in that experience, we’d love to hear from you!

What you will bring:

  • Personal lived experience of caring for someone with mental health challenges or psychosocial distress and recovery
  • Valid AustralianDriver License
  • Non-judgmental,supportive attitude and ability to empathise
  • Current or willingness to obtain a National Police Check, Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Orientation Module, NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Evidenceof right to work / volunteer within Australia
