It takes a Village

We are looking for volunteers to become “villagers” in a new pilot program assisting children in out of home care and their foster carers.

This program aims to build a support network for foster carer families through the engagement of dedicated volunteers who will provide practical support to children and their carers such as mentoring, assisting with transportation to school, extra curricular activities and childminding.

The rewards of this role are immense; potentially assisting children's developmental progress in a meaningful and sustainable way and supporting foster families in their caregiving role.

We are looking for people who:

  • Have some experience of children

  • Are warm, flexible and sensitive in their approach to children, having awareness of the vulnerability of the children they will be working with

  • Are able to build up rapport and communicate with children at their developmental level

  • Able to commit to volunteering for 2-3 hours each fortnight for at least 6 months

  • Have a driver licence or be willing to use public transport to implement their tasks

  • Are willing to obtain (police check national & international, if applicable), WWC and other mandatory checks as required
