About the Program

We are seeking a Toy & Equipment Maintenance Volunteer to help us ensure our new Library of Things collection stays sparkling clean and ready for action. You will play a vital role in promoting sustainability and resource sharing within the community by cleaning and maintaining our diverse collection, ranging from baking equipment to camping gear and assistive technologies.

This is a perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on tasks, wants to contribute to a meaningful initiative, and has a keen eye for detail.

Key Tasks

  • Preparing toys and other loanable equipment for distribution – Clean and stock- take prior to reshelving.

  • Advise library staff of any issues such as missing pieces, cleanliness of items and breakages.

  • Help to maintain and repair items.

    Skills & Knowledge

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to build rapport with community members and library users whilst establishing positive working relationship boundaries.

  • Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Ability to be reliable, flexible, and willing to learn and be part of a team.

  • Physically capable of carrying out the required duties.

Time Commitment Mondays from 9.30 am to 11.30 am and Thursdays from 9.30 am to 11.30 am.

Some additional hours may be requested.

Special Requirements

  • Must possess and provide a Department of Human Services (DHS) “Not Prohibited” Working with Children Check. This can be organised for you.
  • Must be prepared to undertake Child Safe Environment training.
