The Volunteer will be matched to a resident who is a native Hindi speaker to spend some time in one-to-one conversations. You might also be asked to encourage and support them to participate in recreational activities.

As we know people often revert back to their native tongue as they age, which becomes difficult for them to communicate and participate in group activities. So having someone with a shared language that they can talk to and the opportunity to reminisce and share cultural knowledge provides a significant boost to their sense of social connectedness.

This is a real ‘feel good’ volunteer opportunity and the role is very flexible, within regular visiting hours of the facility.
