Logo for Treeby Community Playgroup - supported by Cockburn Volunteer Resource Centre

A Playgroup Volunteer is needed to lead mat sessions (where kids and parents gather around) during the playgroup engage through storytelling, singing nursery rhymes/dancing and/or games.

There will be a set theme every week. Volunteers are encouraged to plan the mat session around the theme, but the committee members will be more than happy to provide ideas and suggestions. We also understand that sometimes it is tricky to find a storybook/song/game that fits the theme and that is ok!

The benefits of this role are engagement with children and their parents, contributing to the young family community in our area and fostering public speaking skills. Volunteers with children wishing to attend the playgroup do not need to pay for the playgroup's term fee.

Key Tasks

Plan and run engaging parent and child playgroup sessions around a weekly theme, through storytelling, singing nursery rhymes/dancing and/or games.
